Interactive Leaflet.js WebGIS dashboard visualizing annual tourist arrivals across Nepal's 7 provinces. Hover over any province to see real-time attribute data in the floating info panel.
This choropleth dashboard reveals a stark disparity in tourist distributions across Nepal. The concentration is heavily centered around Bagmati Province (containing the capital city Kathmandu) and Gandaki Province (containing Pokhara and the Annapurna conservation area). Together, these two provinces receive over 70% of the total annual arrivals.
In contrast, western regions like Karnali and Sudurpashchim suffer from low accessibility despite housing pristine destinations like Rara Lake and Api Himal. Similarly, Madhesh Province, despite hosting the historic Janaki Temple in Janakpur, experiences a lower footprint of international tourists, signifying that arrivals are mostly driven by cross-border pilgrimage rather than commercial holiday tourism.
